Make Firefox 4 times Faster than other Browsers

Firefox is an excellent and already fast browser. With a little minor "tweaking", however, you can make Firefox perform up to 40% faster for page transfers. With just a few clicks and some typing, you can experience faster browsing and surfing Firefox.

If you are using Internet Explorer … please change to Firefox now. Also if you are using an old version you should upgrade. Download from here.

Here are some steps that will make Firefox Faster and Snappier than before. I’ve used it for quite sometime and it hasn’t given me any issue.

Steps:

1. Open a new tab and type about:config into the Firefox Address Bar and press Enter. Then click on “I’ll be careful, I promise!”

The "Config" file will appear in the Firefox browser as a page with hundreds of lines of code in it. Now, we start by enabling some advanced tabbed options:

2. Locate the line "network.http.pipelining" (tip: press "n" on your keyboard to quick scroll). If it’s false (it's false by default), double-click that line and change it to true.

3. Scroll down to the line that says "network.http.proxy.pipelining" (enabling pipelining in proxy) to true by double-clicking it.

4. Find the line that says "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests". Double click on it, and a dialog box will pop up. Change the setting from "4" to "8".

 5. Right-click anywhere inside the page and select New > Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set the value to "0″.

Add caption
6. Right-click anywhere inside the page and select New > Integer. Name it content.notify.interval and set the value to "750000"

7. Right-click anywhere inside the page and select New > Boolean. Name it content.notify.ontimer and set the value to "true".

8.  Right-click anywhere inside the page and select New > Integer. Name it content.switch.threshold and set the value to "500000".

9. Right-click anywhere and select New > Boolean. Name it config.trim_on_minimize and set the value to "true".

 We’re almost done….

10. Right-click anywhere and select New > Integer. Name it browser.cache.memory.capacity and set the value to "65536".

Finally…

10. Right-click anywhere and select New > Boolean. Name it content.interrupt.parsing and set the value to "false".

No need to save this file. Simply close and restart Firefox, and you should see an immediate 10% to 40% increase in web page transfer speed, and faster opening of your tabbed windows! Enjoy!

The Web of Trust (WOT) is an add-on which gives every website a rating dependant on how legitimate it seems. A traffic light system illustrates when a website is either suspicious or untrustworthy, making sure that any shopping or banking you do online, is through only the safest websites.
